Duluth Police arrest two suspects from the May 22 secondary shooting event

The Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Duluth Police Department Violent Crimes Unit arrested two men identified in a shooting that took place in the 100 block of East 3rd Street on May 22, shortly after 7 p.m. The men were arrested after both were suspected of firing shots at a fleeing homicide suspect, Patrick Battees, following the fatal shooting of Juamada Keller Anderson Jr.

Just after 3:00 p.m. today, the Task Force and Duluth Police Investigators worked to locate a 17-year-old male suspect in the 100 block of East 3rd Street. During the arrest, police located a loaded semi-automatic pistol in the waistband of the individual. A second firearm was also found nearby during an incident related to the arrest. The individual was booked at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by an ineligible person and possession of a controlled substance.

A few hours after the first arrest, the second shooting suspect was located and arrested. Police located Tyrone Deshun Childs, 35, on the 200 block of North 2nd Avenue East in a vehicle belonging to Childs. A search of the vehicle yielded two handguns and suspected controlled substances. Childs will be booked at the St. Louis County Jail on charges related to the shooting including reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.

Duluth Police continue to look for the final suspect, Marcus Seville Morris in the shooting that resulted in the death of Juamada Keller Anderson Jr. The Duluth Police continue to ask for the public’s help in locating Morris, and learning more about the two shooting events.
