Motorcycle, motor vehicle crash in Hermantown

Hermantown – Hermantown Police responded to a report of a motorcycle-motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Lavaque Road and Arrowhead Road on Friday.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Harley Davidson, driven by a 56-year-old male from Solon Springs, Wisc., was southbound on Lavaque Road when it crashed into a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by an 80-year-old male from Hermantown, who was traveling eastbound on Arrowhead Road.

The motorcycle driver was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to the hospital via Mayo Ambulance with serious, life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet Impala did not sustain any serious injuries.

The HPD said it does not have a current update on the condition of the driver of the motorcycle.

The Hermantown Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Hermantown Volunteer Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol.The Hermantown Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team.
