Team North begins Elite League play this weekend

Team North (Kowalski’s) will begin Upper Midwest High School Elite League Hockey play with three games this weekend in New Hope, Minn.

Team North will open Saturday against Map South Hockey at 11:15 a.m. and Team Wisconsin at 5:30 p.m., before facing Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Team North roster consists of all players from northeastern Minnesota, including Hermantown junior defenseman Ty Hanson, a prime-time Bulldogs recruit, and Duluth Denfeld senior forward Simon Davidson, an uncommitted, rising Division I prospect.

Hermantown junior forward Zam Plante, the Duluth Times’ preseason player-of-the-year selection, will play for Chicago in the United States Hockey League this fall before returning to play for the Hawks at the beginning of the season in mid-November.
