Howie Hanson: Duluth hosts college men’s hockey showcase this weekend

DULUTH — Four top-10 nationally-ranked teams will compete in the Ice Breaker college men’s hockey tournament here this weekend.

In semifinal games today at Amsoil Arena, No. 1 Minnesota State-Mankato (3-1) will face No. 10 Providence College (3-0) at 4 p.m. and No. 3 Michigan (2-0) will battle the host No. 5 Bulldogs (2-0) at 7:37 p.m.

Seven NHL first-round picks dominate the Wolverines’ roster, including 2021 first overall pick Owen Power, second overall pick Matty Beniers, fourth overall pick Luke Hughes and fifth overall pick Kent Johnson.
