Quote Me, Howie: Gerry Goldfarb

What’s my good friend Gerry Goldfarb up to these days?

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 1/2 years since my family and I moved back to the Twin Cities to be closer to family down here and more opportunities for myself and my wife’s interior design business. I really appreciated my time working for the Labovitz family and the Lion Hotel Group while at the Holiday Inn and Holiday Center. I left the hotel in good hands with Brandon Porter and miss my team at the Holiday Inn, The Greenery, and the Lyric Kitchen Bar. In retrospect, I left at the right time not knowing Covid-19 was only months away and that being together as a family would be so important especially during the initial lockdowns. Furthermore, the hospitality business would be forever changed. It was nice to see Duluth rebound quickly with many tourists heading north to get away but the Twin Cities hospitality market has a longer road ahead to fully recover. I was excited to see and hear that the Essentia project is coming along and that the Superior Street project was finally completed. I was saddened to hear of the many changes that have taken place at Visit Duluth. Visit Duluth holds a special place in my heart, having served as board chair for six years, because tourism and conventions are so important and vital for Duluth. I feel politics got involved and changes were made. We will see what the future holds, but I’m always proud to say Duluth is my hometown.”
